How heated socks work

The controls

Each heated sock is equipped with a built-in heating system that is invisibly integrated into the fabric. This system spreads warmth across the heating zone of the sock, making cold feet less likely to be a problem. Switching it on and off is easy using the button on the sock itself. Press and hold it for a few seconds to activate the heating system. The sock will then usually switch to the highest heat setting, after which you will feel the warmth increase within a few minutes.

The battery

At the top of the sock, there is a special pocket in which you can store the rechargeable battery. You can easily connect this battery to the cable of the heating system. Thanks to its smart placement, you hardly feel the battery while wearing the sock, and you put the sock on just like any other sock.

The batteries are compact, lightweight and suitable for use in cold conditions. This helps keep your feet comfortably warm even at low temperatures.

The heat system

The heating system consists of ultra-thin heating elements made of copper and carbon. Because carbon fibres are extremely flexible and strong, they move smoothly with the fabric without you feeling them. In most models, the warmth spreads from the top of the foot to the toes, exactly where you tend to feel the cold most quickly.

The result is pleasant, even warmth that keeps your feet comfortably warm.

How long do your feet stay warm?

The runtime depends on several factors:

  • Ambient temperature: the colder it is, the harder the battery has to work.
  • The selected heat setting: the higher the setting, the faster the battery will run out.
  • The battery capacity: most of our heated socks come with a 7.4 V – 2600 mAh battery. The actual runtime depends on the model and the conditions.

As a general guideline, you can expect around 2 to 9 hours of warmth, depending on the model and the conditions. If you want to enjoy warm feet for longer, an extra set of batteries can be useful.

With the supplied charger, the batteries are usually fully recharged in about 4 hours.

Heat settings

Our heated socks feature three heat settings: low, medium and high. The highest setting is ideal for warming up your feet quickly when they are very cold. The medium and low settings are used to keep your feet comfortably warm afterwards. While walking, cycling or skiing, you can easily adjust the temperature to suit the conditions, so you can always enjoy a comfortable amount of warmth.

Heated socks with remote control (model PRO)

Our HeatPerformance® PRO heated socks come with a handy remote control. This allows you to switch easily between the three heat settings without having to use the button on the sock itself. This is ideal while skiing, cycling or walking.

You can also attach the remote control to your key ring or jacket zip, so you can always adjust the heat quickly. Want to know how to pair the remote control? Then also take a look at our explanation of how to pair the remote control with our PRO heated socks.
