Heated gloves have a built-in heating system that you can easily switch on with a single button. Thin heating elements distribute warmth across your hand and fingers, while compact rechargeable batteries power the system.
This keeps your hands comfortably warm during everyday activities, work, walking and outdoor sports. But where exactly are the heating elements located, how do you operate the gloves and how long does a charged battery last?

A heated glove usually has one control button on the back of the hand or on the cuff. Press and hold this button for a few seconds to switch on the heating system.
The glove usually starts on the highest heat setting. This allows cold hands to warm up quickly. You can then easily switch to a lower setting to keep the temperature comfortable and extend battery life.
The button is also easy to operate while wearing the gloves. This is practical when you want to adjust the temperature on the go, for example while skiing with heated ski gloves or while cycling with heated cycling gloves.
The highest setting is mainly intended to warm your hands quickly. Once your hands feel comfortably warm, a lower setting is usually sufficient.
The cuff contains a special pocket for the rechargeable battery. The connection for the heating system is also located in this pocket. Connect the battery, place it in the pocket and then close the cuff again.
Because the battery is neatly tucked away in the cuff, you hardly notice it while wearing the gloves. The batteries are designed for use at low temperatures and continue to work well even on cold winter days.

The heating system consists of thin, flexible heating elements made of copper and carbon. They are integrated into the glove and distribute heat across the hand and fingers.
Carbon fibres are thin, flexible and strong. This allows the heating elements to move with the fabric so you can barely feel them while wearing the gloves. You retain enough freedom of movement to hold objects, use tools or stay active.
On most models, the heating elements run across the back of the hand and along the fingers to the fingertips. Some models also have heating elements in the palm.
